Kayak Caples, Hike to Emigrant Lake

What a great fall day - some white caps as we started but managed to stay fairly dry to get to the other side of Caples Lake.  Then we hiked up the short 2 miles to Emigrant Lake.  Note enough time or challenge so we hiked over the peak to see what was there.  Over another peak, around another and over another and we found Fourth of July Lake - way below us.  After returning to the kayaks and paddling around Caples, we opted to head home and forget about unloading the bikes on Blue Lakes Road for a ride.  Thus, Jan made it home in time for her evening appointment.  We missed you Katrina, you would have had us on the bikes.

Tour de Tahoe (Bike around Lake Tahoe)

76 miles of elevation gain and loss, some faster moments, challenging other riders to get to the next spot while yet others fly past us with their eyes almost closed.  Five 1/2 hours of peddle and pump, not much time for chatting and eating, so certainly a challenge for us all.  What a great accomplishment and fun, outside of the sore butts and popping Advils at the top of Spooner Summit.  Dinner and a good night of rest was certainly earned today.  Thanks for the pictures Tim.
